Resident of the Month: David I.

David was born September 16, 1960 in Des Moines to Gordon and Darleen. He has one brother, Mike, who lives in Kansas City. David has never been married and doesn’t have any children.

Before retirement, he was a carpenter and mowed lawns.

David doesn’t have just one memorable moment or world event from growing up. He thinks all of history is interesting and memorable to him.

He learned to drive when he was 16 years old and in Driver’s Education. His first car was a Buick LeSabre with a 355 in it, and it was fast! He loved cruising around Des Moines and Norwalk areas.

His favorite food is chicken, but really whatever his mom made was good. He said she made the best meals and he loved everything she made.

When David was younger, he liked playing with the neighborhood kids. Now he enjoys sitting and talking with others and watching wildlife.

He says what he likes most about Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation is the people. He said there isn’t anything he dislikes.

His advice for the younger generation is to listen to your parents, stay out of trouble and don’t blow your money!

If David could go back to any age, it would be 16, so he could drive around again.

David says his most cherished family tradition was family reunions during the holidays and summer breaks.

What he has liked best about his life so far is that he knows more than anybody else about the spiritual world.

David said if there is something he could have known when he was young that he knows now it would be to not spend money on silly stuff.

He would also like to share that he is a very interesting subject and he has lived in Norwalk most of his life!
